Post-op Instructions/Information

  • It is normal for your tooth/mouth/jaw to be sore and sensitive to touch for 2-7 days
  • We recommend 2-3 Advil (400-600 mg ibuprofen) plus 1 extra -strength Tylenol (500 mg acetaminophen) every 4-6 hours as needed to control this normal post-op pain
  • If you experience swelling and are NOT already taking antibiotics, please call us immediately to get a prescription.
  • If pain to chew or touch your teeth together lasts longer than 7-10 days, please come in to have your bite adjusted and any high spots removed, or this could delay or prevent complete healing
  • Please follow-up with your dentist in 1-6 weeks for a permanent filling and or crown.
  • For the long term protection of your tooth and the prevention of tooth fracture, it is recommended that any tooth that has had root canal therapy is also crowned (capped).
